Hi, I’m Dr. Ashish Patel with Dentistry at East Piedmont. One of the biggest shifts happening in dentistry today is that we’re able to detect problems earlier than ever before, and that changes everything about how we treat them.

In our office, we use AI assisted X-Ray technology called Pearl. It analyzes your radiographs in real time and helps us identify very early changes to your enamel. Sometimes before they would even traditionally be diagnosed as a cavity. When we show you your X-rays, you may see areas that are highlighted. That is not to alarm you. It’s only to educate you. It allows us to catch the decay process at its very earliest stage.

And here is the most important part: Just because we see something early does not mean we immediately drill. At Dentistry at East Piedmont, we believe the best dentistry is the one you never have to do. Our goal is to preserve natural tooth structure whenever possible. When decay is caught early before a hole is even formed, we can often treat it with a regenerative approach called Curodont.

Curodont is a biomimetic treatment. Meaning, it works with your body’s natural healing process. It penetrates into the weakened enamel, created a scaffold within the tooth structure, and guides calcium and phosphates back into the area so the enamel can re-mineralize and strengthen over time. In simple terms, it helps your tooth rebuild itself. The benefits are significant. No drilling. No injections. No removing healthy tooth structure. The application process only takes 5 minutes and is very simple to do without any anesthetic. We simply etch the tooth, dry it, then apply the peptide between the two teeth where there has been the start of decalcification, often avoiding a filling all together.

The cost for the treatment is $65 per tooth. Many patients appreciate that treating something early at this stage is often more conservative and typically less involved than waiting until it requires a filling or a crown. This approach is especially useful for children, orthodontic patients with white spots, and adults who want a more preservative, minimally invasive option.

By combining advanced AI detection with Pearl radiographs and the regenerative process of Curodont, we’re able to shift from a repair model to a preservation model.

If you have any questions about this, please feel free to reach out to our office and give us a call. We’d love to talk to you about Curodont and  Pearl AI.
