Hi there, Dr. Ashish Patel. Today I want to talk about a topic that a lot of people ask me about and that’s teeth whitening. In our office there are three main ways to whiten your teeth:
Custom Professional Teeth Whitening Kit
This is done in your house and the way it works is you come in, we get your impressions (top and bottom). We then fabricate a custom tray here in our office and then you have a full kit of whitening gel. That whitening gel you put a little drop into each one of the wells, you wear that tray for about thirty minutes a day, and you wear it for about five to seven days and then your teeth become whiter gradually each day.
Zoom! In-office Whitening
A lot of people have heard of Zoom! whitening. It’s made by Philips, the same maker of Sonicare and the way that works is you come into our office, we schedule about an hour and a half, we paint on a special solution onto your gums and then we paint on the whitening solution onto your teeth.
We then put this really blue, beautiful light that activates the whitening onto your teeth and then in an hour and a half you’re teeth are whiter and you get home with whiter teeth.
KöR Whitening
And the third method, which is the creme de la creme, which is great for people who have greyer shades of teeth or dark yellow shades, is a professional tooth whitening called KöR whitening.
KöR whitening was made by a dentist and it involves these steps:
- So the first thing is to come in, get your impressions of your teeth.
- We then send those off to the KöR lab. They custom fabricate a special tray for each individual tooth and that tray you fill up with gel and then you wear overnight for the first two weeks.
- That gel conditions your teeth and gets it ready for the in-office product which occurs at the end of that two-week period.
- Very similar to the Zoom! product except without the light, it’s about an hour and a half, they paint on a special solution and then you get to go home with your teeth at the end of that.
So all three options are a great way for our patients to get their teeth whitened. We’ve done a ton of these in our office and if you wanna see what your possibilities are please call our office and schedule a consultation, we’d be happy to go over those options with you in person.
