Improve your dental routineA beautiful smile begins with healthy teeth and gums.

Your overall health and dental health are linked together; that’s why it’s important to take care of your smile. Having a good dental routine affects more than just your morning breath.

Here are a few quick tips you can use to make your daily mouth care better and brighter.

1. Keep Your Supplies in Reach

A little organization goes a long way when you’re getting into the habit of caring for your smile. It will be much easier for you to grab your toothpaste and other oral care supplies if they’re all kept together.

Whether you keep the products on your sink or in the medicine cabinet, make sure these items are easy to access, so you don’t have to spend extra time searching for them each day.

2. Toss Your Toothbrush

At least every three months! Even if you’re brushing twice a day, if your toothbrush is more than a few months old, it can do more harm than good to your smile.

As time passes, all the food particles and plaque you’ve managed to brush from your teeth starts to accumulate on your toothbrush. If you don’t replace your toothbrush often, you risk transferring that bacteria directly back into your mouth.

3. Enjoy a Healthy Diet

A balanced diet is crucial not only for healthy teeth and gums but healthy living, too. In fact, what you eat can impact your smile in a big way. Fruits and vegetables that are high in nutrients are not only better for you than carbs and candy – some of them can even help whiten your teeth.

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, try to limit your sugar intake to just after, or during a meal. That way, your teeth won’t regularly be exposed to harmful bacteria.

4. Use Mouthwash Daily

To keep your breath minty fresh, and reduce your risk for periodontal infection, we recommend using antibacterial mouthwash daily. While it might seem backward, remember to rinse with mouthwash before you brush – otherwise, you’ll undo all the work of brushing your teeth!

5. Make it Consistent

As a final tip, remember to keep up with your oral care every day! You can’t skip out on brushing your teeth for two days and then make up for it by spending an extra four minutes brushing the next day.

A consistent routine combined with regular dental checkups can make all the difference in your smile.
