Your First Visit
What to expect at your new patient experience
SMILE BRILLIANTLY, Live Beautifully.
What Happens at Your First Visit
Your first visit is not just an exam. It is the appointment where we learn what you want from your dental care and build the baseline every future decision rests on.
Some new patients have avoided the dentist for years and want a fresh start without judgment. Some have moved to Marietta and need a dental home. Some are ready for cosmetic or restorative work and want to know whether this is the right practice for that level of care.
The first visit at Dentistry at East Piedmont includes a comprehensive oral evaluation, diagnostic imaging, periodontal screening, bite review, oral cancer screening, and an unhurried conversation. You leave knowing where you stand, what matters first, and what the next step would be if treatment is recommended.
Why Patients Choose Us for Their Dental Home
Dr. Ashish Patel
Dr. Patel takes time on every first visit to listen first and diagnose second, so the treatment conversation is grounded in what you actually want from your dental care.
FOUNDED 2001 · 3 DOCTORS · PRIVATE TREATMENT ROOMS
Most new patients come to us in one of three situations. Some have been putting off the dentist for years and want a fresh start without judgment. Some have moved to the Marietta area and need a new dental home. Some are unhappy with their current provider and want to see what a different kind of practice feels like.
Whichever group you are in, Dr. Ashish Patel and the team build the first visit around understanding your situation before proposing anything. We listen, examine carefully, explain what we find, and outline options if treatment is needed. You leave knowing where you stand and what your choices are.
Your visit happens in our private treatment rooms with the comforts that have made Dentistry at East Piedmont known as Marietta's upscale dental spa, and a team who treats every patient like family.
The Experience Around Your First Visit
Forms Before You Arrive
Digital forms help keep the appointment focused on your exam, concerns, goals, and questions instead of clipboard time.
Complete Diagnostic Picture
Digital x-rays, periodontal screening, bite evaluation, oral cancer screening, and photos when helpful give us the full baseline.
A Real Conversation
We ask what you want from your dental care before we talk about treatment, timing, or priorities.
Written Next Steps
If treatment is recommended, you leave with priorities, sequencing, and estimated portions so you can decide your timeline.
Why Patients Choose New Patient Visit
A Comprehensive Oral Evaluation
We examine your teeth, restorations, gums, bite, and oral tissues. It is the kind of exam that catches small problems before they grow.
Full Diagnostic Imaging
Digital x-rays and intraoral photos let us see the parts of your mouth a visual exam cannot reach. The images are reviewed with you on screen so you understand what we see.
Periodontal Screening and Oral Cancer Screening
Gum health and oral cancer screening are part of the first visit, every time. Catching either one early changes the conversation about treatment.
An Honest Conversation, No Pressure
We walk you through what we found in plain language and lay out your options. If treatment is recommended, you can review the written plan and decide your timeline.
What to Expect, Step by Step
New Patient Forms, Done Ahead of Time
We send digital intake forms through Modento before your visit so the appointment can stay focused on you, not on paperwork. Bring a list of medications and any recent dental imaging if you have it.
Comprehensive Exam and Diagnostic Imaging
Your first visit includes a full mouth exam, periodontal screening, oral cancer screening, bite analysis, and digital x-rays. Intraoral photos when they help illustrate what we are looking at. The complete picture, captured in one visit.
Findings Conversation
We sit down and walk you through what we found, on screen, in plain language. You see what we see. Questions are welcome and expected. If treatment is recommended, we explain why, what the options are, and what each one involves.
Your Plan and Next Steps
If you need treatment, we put together a written plan with priorities, sequencing, and estimated portions. We file insurance as a courtesy when your plan has out-of-network benefits. You decide the timeline.
Is This the Right First Visit for You?
The strongest candidates for New Patient Visit share a few patterns:
- You are new to Marietta or new to Dentistry at East Piedmont
- You have been avoiding the dentist and want a fresh start without judgment
- You have a current dentist but are looking for a different kind of practice
- You want a dental home where the same team handles routine, cosmetic, and restorative work
If you are in active pain or have a dental emergency, your first appointment with us should not be the comprehensive exam. Call us so we can see you for the urgent issue first and schedule the comprehensive visit afterward, once the pain is addressed.
Investment in Your First Visit
Your first visit is an investment in knowing where you stand. The comprehensive exam, diagnostic imaging, and findings conversation are the foundation of every future decision about your care. If treatment is recommended, we make every effort to estimate your portion in writing before treatment is scheduled.
Dental insurance may contribute to the new patient exam and routine imaging when your plan has out-of-network preventive benefits. We file as a courtesy and make every effort to estimate your portion, but estimates are not a guarantee of payment.
If treatment is recommended after the exam, we walk through the written plan with you and discuss financing options for the portion that goes beyond what insurance covers.
The best way to know what your first visit will look like is to book it. Book an Appointment or call the office and we'll take it from there.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will I receive a cleaning at my new patient appointment?
It depends on what your mouth needs that day. Many patients receive a healthy-mouth cleaning at the first visit. If we see active gum disease, complex medical history, or something that needs more time, we slow down and make the right plan first.
